This slightly curved home on a hilltop carefully frames views to the south of near redwoods and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. The outer radius of the bow shaped floor plan expands to become three small bedrooms at the north. At the south is a Great Room with kitchen, dining and living room. The wall between the bedrooms and the Great Room is a masonry ‘spine’, capped with a clearstory. Sun coming through the clearstory heats a curved block wall, and moderates temperatures in summer and winter. In addition, the building has a green roof, solar electric, a glass sunroom off the west, wheelchair accessibility, and a terraced front garden.
The new house is connected to an existing bungalow by a glass vestibule which is the entrance to the residence, a quiet place to rest and enjoy the garden, and a lobby for visitors to the dance studio/bungalow.
