This simple house is designed for a farm family to enjoy without artificial heating and cooling. The two-story wing houses the parent's bedroom, laundry and guest room on the ground floor, with the children's realm above. The single story wing contains the living room, dining, kitchen and a large enclosed porch. The living roof provides shade and evaporation, keeping the living areas cool under the strong summer sun. 

The two wings are joined by a breezeway/entrance hall, which is designed to capture afternoon breezes in summer and funnel them throughout the house. A wood stove in the breezeway will heat the lower floor, and extra heat will naturally travel up to the bedrooms.
