This two story strawbale house in the Napa Valley is similar to designs in Italy's wine country, but with expansive windows and energy efficiency. The house features tall ceilings throughout and dining areas open to the outdoors. The garage/studio barn is wood-framed and hosts a yoga studio.

Walls are lime plaster, inside and out. Located near a significant earthquake fault, the building is creatively engineered to handle almost twice the normal loading without structural failure, and to be repaired and functioning weeks after an event that would devastate most of the surrounding buildings.
